Christmas at Kew

Christmas at Kew

Last night we were thrilled to attend the opening of this year’s Christmas at Kew. This is, honestly, in my humble opinion, one of the most magical events of the year. It’s beautifully curated and choreographed with stunning new installations and plenty for all the family.

Our excitement was piqued even before we entered as you can see part of one of the installation from the street which only served to add to the anticipation of fun. It’s the perfect event to take you back to the festive fever we all felt when we were children, with music throughout the Gardens to complement an array of neon lights, both static and moving. With Harry Potter-esque candles floating in the trees; the beautiful ‘Fire Garden’ which made one feel eerily sombre but relaxed; a light beam show to the dulcet tones of Justin Harkness and the most spectacular finale in the form of a fountain, light and sound show at the Palm House, which my son made us sit through three times.

We had hot dogs, mulled wine and marshmallows over a fire and, in spite of the fact that it’s still only mid-November, it felt very much like the beginning of the most wonderful time of the year.

So, I don’t care if it’s too soon… Merry Christmas, everyone.
